HEALTHY BLACK FAMILIES INC.
To educate, engage, and advocate for the holistic growth and development of diverse Black individuals and families.
A society that is fair, equitable and just, particularly in relation to Black individuals and families. Health equity is achieved when we no longer see health disparities based on race.
HBF began as the Community Advisory Board (CAB) to Berkeley’s Black Infant Health Program in 2002 with the intention of advocating for and providing services to mothers who needed continuity of services. Later in 2014, HBF was established as a 501©(3) nonprofit.
“The vision of Healthy Black Families, Inc. is to “fully achieve health equity through the elimination of racism—primarily institutional racism.”
— DR. Vicki Alexander, hbf, inc. FOUNDER and board president
“A Black child should have the same opportunities in life as any other child.”
